Description

A beautiful pair(2) of ornately floral and hatched decoration antique 19th Century Tughra stamped Ottoman Turkish Silver spoon holder goblets. Exhibiting sweeping scalloped and beaded rims, hand-chased details and stacked cast silver stems and bases. Stamped in several places with Sultan's Tughra emblems, Silver standard hallmarks, and assayer's zigzag marks. Each measures approximately 5.5" tall, and 4.25" across at the rims. The heavy cast bases are wheel-turned underneath, and measure approximately 3.25" across. The cups are elaborately worked with undulating beaded rims, and cut scalloped bottom rims Although both pieces are similar overall, the handwork makes them only slightly asymmetrical. Because they are essentially the same design, I am selling them as a pair. Condition is excellent--no dents, dings or major damage. One of the goblets has a threaded inner stem that has been re-attached with a blob of epoxy, rather than re-soldered--an easy fix. Total combined weight is 592 grams(301g+291g).
